You Don't Have to Suffer Alone

This post may hurt others but I really hope it doesn't. I encourage you to answer the following question in your own time. What does "You don't have to suffer alone" means to you?

I really like the image below and it is a great way to explain of you don't have to suffer alone.
If you can't see the image above, it says "Dont lose hope even in life's worst situation. It will get better. Pray for the strength to get through. Sometimes we have to realise that we can't do it alone as much as we would like to be able to stand on our own two feet without the need to lean on someone else for support. At times, we are not strong enough to do it alone. Enjoy your solitude, but in the end we need someone there to assure us that everything will be fine. We need someone to hold our hand in life's toughest moments. Dont be afraid to reach out and ask for someone's help. You don't have to suffer alone."

I would share with you some things and it may make you cry. Some things you might see as a better perspective where I am coming from.

'For the hard decisions that I have made in the past. There have been too many decisions to decide on and takes awhile to have a think about what the best outcome would be.

For some of the friendships that I didn't accept straight away. I didn't know if I should accept or not.
For some of the challenges that I have faced in the past. I didn't know how to resolve straight away.
For some of the things that I have learnt to deal with in a difficult way. I didn't know any better.

For some of the life lessons that I have learnt in the past. To progress in life, I need to learn some life lessons. For not being successful at getting a long term job. Other than short term employment, people just didn't give me another chance to do better.

For not being friends who I used to call friends. It is easy to say goodbye or not being friends with them anymore. For the people who I have hurt. I didn't mean to hurt anyone. I am not always a happy and cheerful person. I already asked Heavenly father for forgiveness.

For the times that I have wasted my time on, I would have used my time more wisely if I knew how to sooner. For not being able to let go of some things from the past. I am sorry, I just can't let it go."

I seem to care about some people and when they don't accept my willingness to care for them, I feel like saying "I am so sorry for caring about you." I seem to be some people's biggest mistakes by being friends with them for a long time and not being friends with me anymore. I am not perfect.

I don't have many friends who I can trust. I don't have many friends who I can see being friends with in the future. I love my family because they mean a lot to me.

I don't need friends who think it is right for them to tell me what to do. I don't deserve to be treated unfairly. I don't need friends who think it is right for them to give my phone number to someone else. I think it would be best if that someone else wanted my phone number, he or she should have to ask me nicely. I don't like giving my phone number out to anyone.

Much has been said. I don't want this post to be any longer than it needs to. If you have read this far, thank you.

He GIVES Me Peace

I hope this post is a good reminder to all of us and remember the Saviour gives us peace.
If you can't see the Image below, it says "He gives me peace. - John 14:27."
I encourage you to allow yourself some time to think about the following questions. He means the Saviour. "What does He gives me peace means to you?" and "How can we feel his peace around us?"

As for me, it means the Saviour gives me chances to feel peace through when there are arguments happening in the home, and gives me chances to feel peace when I am at the Temple. I know whenever I feel peace, it makes me happy to know it is okay to feel peace when I deserve to feel peace. When I don't feel peace, I feel unhappy and I don't like feeling sad.

Heavenly Father wants all of us to be happy, deserve to feel peace, deserve to feel loved and other things. He loves how we try to work things out and asking his assistance for insurance and keeping in tuned with the Holy Ghost.

When we keep in tuned with the Holy Ghost, we are able to feel the promptings and able to feel to know what we are doing is right choices. He doesn't want us to feel unhappy and feel unloved. Always remember, you deserve to be happy and you deserve to be unhappy when things doesn't work out well.

I encourage you to ask yourself the following questions in your own time.
"What things would I need to improve in to have a greater relationship with my immediate family members?" "What things would I need to improve in to able to make the right decisions?" and
"What would I do if the Saviour stood next to me?"

Finding Lasting Peace and Building Eternal Families

For the readers who are Latter-Day Saints, we were all given the gift of the Holy Ghost after we got baptised. We should always listen and act upon those promptings of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is here to help you, guide you, warn you and other things. Sometimes, I know when I don't listen to the Promptings and don't act upon it straight away, I feel bad and ask myself why did I ignored the Prompting.

This post is based on an October General Conference 2014 talk called, "Finding Lasting Peace and Building Eternal Families" by L. Tom Perry.
I love a quote from the talk. If you can't see the Image above, it says "We must never let the noise of the world overpower and overwhelm that still, small voice. - L. Tom Perry."

I would like to share with you some highlights while I was reading the talk.

"For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do” (2 Nephi 32:5).

"We certainly have been warned of events that we will be facing in our day. Our challenge will be how we prepare for the events the Lord has said are surely still to come.

Many in our worried society understand that the disintegration of the family will bring only sorrow and hopelessness into a troubled world. As members of the Church, we have the responsibility to preserve and protect the family as the basic unit of society and eternity. The prophets have warned and forewarned about the inevitable and destructive consequence of a deterioration of family values.

As the world continues to watch us, let us be certain that our example will sustain and support the plan the Lord has designed for His children here in mortality. The greatest teaching of all must be done by righteous example. Our homes must be holy places in order to stand against the pressures of the world. Remember that the greatest of all the blessings of the Lord come through and are given to righteous families.

Let us first look at the role of the mother. Listen to this quote from President Gordon B. Hinckley:

“We cannot begin to measure or calculate the influence of women who, in their own ways, build stable family life and nurture for everlasting good the generations of the future. The decisions made by the women of this generation will be eternal in their consequences. May I suggest that the mothers of today have no greater opportunity and no more serious challenge than to do all they can to strengthen the [home]”

Now let’s look at the role a father plays in our lives:

Fathers give blessings and perform sacred ordinances for their children. These will become spiritual highlights in their lives. Fathers are personally involved in leading family prayers, daily scripture reading, and weekly family home evenings.

Fathers build family traditions by being involved in helping plan vacation trips and outings that will involve all of the family members. Memories of these special times together will never be forgotten by their children.

Fathers hold one on one visits with their children and teach them gospel principles. Fathers teach sons and daughters the value of work and help them establish worthy goals in their own lives.

Fathers set an example of faithful gospel service."

Who Will I Be Today?

This post is short and sweet. What does it mean when you hear "Who will I be today?"
We all make decisions of who we all will be as each day goes by and each night goes by.

This next part may not be relatable to this post but I really like the saying "All decisions that we decide to do, every action that we act and everything that we think about has good and bad consequences behind it. We all need to decide wisely. We all need to act wisely. We all need to think wisely."
If you can't see the Image above, it says
"Who will I be today? What dreams will I chase? What will I create and accomplish no matter what? Who will I give value, love, or appreciation to? What will I do or experience that will help me feel fulfilled and grateful when I rest my head to pillow later tonight?"

I encourage you to think and answer the following question in your own time.
"What were you thinking as you were reading those questions from the Image?"

I really loved the questions and I think I should think about those questions more often.
I think it will be a great idea and I think it will be great for others to folow that example too.

Overview of 2016 Brisbane YSA Mini Convention

I always love going to YSA events such as Devotionals/Firesides, dances, activities and getting myself involved because the events/activities are always well organised.

At each YSA event that I go to, I always see it as a great opportunity for me to make new friends, to make YSA memories and to spend some time with my friends who I haven't seen for awhile or ages.

How was your weekend? Was it great? Was it okay? Was it fun? Was it alright? Was it productive?
Was it good? Was it not so good? Did you have any highlights what you did during the weekend?

I would like to share with you some highlights from my weekend. Overall my weekend was good and very productive. I attended most events for Brisbane YSA Mini Convention during the past weekend.

On Saturday from 5:30am to 1:30pm: I was with a few of my YSA friends and we had a great time.
We heart attack Toowoomba Ward's Elders, Elder Allapitan and Elder De Young's car with positive, motivated and uplifting notes, we help cleaned a member's house for about 1 hour and 30 minutes,
we made sure someone was okay, we put sticky positive and uplifting notes on people's cars and
we did other services.
On Saturday night: I had dinner, I attended the multistake YSA dance. While I was at the dance; I was able to make a few new YSA friends, I took so many photos during the evening, I was able to catch up with my friend Bennett who recently returned home from his mission, I danced and that's about it.

On Sunday/Sunday night: I attended Toowoomba Ward and I went to Cleveland chapel afterward. While I was at Cleveland chapel, I had dinner, I was able to help with making the punch drinks for the YSAs, I attended the multistake YSA fireside, I was able to catch up with some friends and 3 friends who recently returned home from their missions. I was able to make one new friend,

Today: I didn't go to the Anzac march and that's okay with me. I am sure that one day, I will.

One Step after Another

This post is based on an October 2001 General Conference talk called "One Step after Another" by Joseph B. Wirthlin. I would like to share with you some highlights while I was reading the talk.

Brother Wirthlin mentions,

"We all are going through different life experiences. While some are filled with joy today, others feel as though their hearts could burst with sorrow. Some feel as though the world is their oyster; others feel as though they were the oyster itself, plucked from the ocean, cracked open, and robbed of all that is precious to them.

No matter your station, no matter your emotional or spiritual state of mind, I would like to offer counsel to you that may be of use, regardless of where you are in your sojourn through this mortal life.

Certainly we have much to be grateful for. And I think if we will consider the blessings we have, we will forget some of our worries.

Sometimes we make the process more complicated than we need to. We will never make a journey of a thousand miles by fretting about how long it will take or how hard it will be. We make the journey by taking each day step by step and then repeating it again and again until we reach our destination.

Our Heavenly Father knows that we must begin our climb from where we are. “When you climb up a ladder,” the Prophet Joseph Smith taught, “you must begin at the bottom, and ascend step by step, until you arrive at the top; and so it is with the principles of the gospel you must begin with the first, and go on until you learn all the principles of exaltation. But it will be a great while after you have passed through the veil before you will have learned them.”

Our Heavenly Father loves each one of us and understands that this process of climbing higher takes preparation, time, and commitment. He understands that we will make mistakes at times, that we will stumble, that we will become discouraged and perhaps even wish to give up and say to ourselves it is not worth the struggle.

We know it is worth the effort, for the prize, which is eternal life, is “the greatest of all the gifts of God.” And to qualify, we must take one step after another and keep going to gain the spiritual heights we aspire to reach.

An eternal principle is revealed in holy writ: “It is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength. And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize.”

We don’t have to be fast; we simply have to be steady and move in the right direction. We have to do the best we can, one step after another. As we read about the great souls who have preceded us, we learn that they too had times of discouragement and sorrow. We learn that they persevered in spite of hardship, in spite of adversity, sometimes even in spite of their own weaknesses.

We learn that they too continued to press forward, one step after another. We can be like those righteous souls Lehi spoke of who “caught hold of the end of the rod of iron, and they did press forward through the mist of darkness, … even until they did come forth and partake of the fruit of the tree.”

My brothers and sisters, our time here is so precious and so short. How well I understand the prophet Jacob when he said, “Our lives passed away like as it were unto us a dream.”

All too soon, our time is finished. While we can while we have the time to complete our work let us walk in the right direction, taking one step after another.
We don't have to be perfect today. We don't have to
be better than someone else. All we have to do is
to be the very best we can.
Though you may feel weary, though you sometimes may not be able to see the way, know that your Father in Heaven will never forsake His righteous followers. He will not leave you comfortless. He will be at your side, yes, guiding you every step of the way."

You Can Change

This post is short and sweet. This post is based on an EFY 2009 song that I love, called "You Can Change" by Lowell Alexander and Tyler Castleton. What does "You Can Change" means to you? If you haven't heard the song before, I encourage you to listen to the song and below is an audio clip of the song.
If you can't see the video above, here's the link. www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYt8CsRlbVs
If you did listen to the song, what did you think of the song? Do you have any favourite parts?
If you do have a favourite part, what was your favourite part of the song?

I would like to share with you, my favourite part of the song and it says "There are days you stumble and you fall and sometimes through it all. You think you'll never stand again. There are times when choices weigh you down and bend you to the ground. That's a place that we've all been."

It is my favourite part because it is so true. For a few examples, instead of you, I mention we/us. It is so true that there are days when we stumble. It is so true that there are days when we fall. It is so true that there are times when choices weigh us down.
We all are so lucky because we all are given the chances to change for the better each evening and we all are given chances to change for the better each day.

What Matters Most Is What Lasts Longest

First and foremost, I encourage you to answer the following two questions in your own time.
"What matters the most to you?" "Why those people/things matters to you the most?"

This post is based on an October 2005 General Conference talk called, "What Matters Most is What Lasts Longest" by M. Russell Ballard and I would like to share with you some highlights while I was reading the talk.

He mentioned, "Crisis or transition of any kind reminds us of what matters most. In the routine of life, we often take our families our parents and children and siblings for granted. But in times of danger and need and change, there is no question that what we care about most is our families! It will be even more so when we leave this life and enter into the spirit world. Surely the first people we will seek to find there will be father, mother, spouse, children, and siblings.

I believe the mission statement for mortality might be “to build an eternal family.” Here on this earth we strive to become part of extended families with the ability to create and form our own part of those families. That is one of the reasons our Heavenly Father sent us here. Not everyone will find a companion and have a family in mortality, but everyone, regardless of individual circumstances, is a precious member of God’s family.

Brothers and sisters, this year marks the 10th anniversary of the proclamation to the world on the family, which was issued by the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in 1995.

The proclamation is a prophetic document, not only because it was issued by prophets but because it was ahead of its time. It warns against many of the very things that have threatened and undermined families during the last decade and calls for the priority and the emphasis families need if they are to survive in an environment that seems ever more toxic to traditional marriage and to parent-child relationships.
You are familiar with such words from the proclamation as these:
  • “Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God.”
  • “Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.”
  • “Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children.”
Joseph F. Smith said: “There can be no genuine happiness separate and apart from the home, and every effort made to sanctify and preserve its influence is uplifting to those who toil and sacrifice for its establishment. Men and women often seek to substitute some other life for that of the home; they would make themselves believe that the home means restraint; that the highest liberty is the fullest opportunity to move about at will. There is no happiness without service, and there is no service greater than that which converts the home into a divine institution, and which promotes and preserves family life”

Now, one may ask, How do we protect and preserve and strengthen our homes and families in a world pulling so hard in opposite directions? Let me make three simple suggestions:

1. Be consistent in holding daily family prayer and weekly family home evenings.

2. Teach the gospel and basic values in your home. Establish a love for reading the scriptures together. You might want to choose one gospel subject or a family value and then watch for opportunities to teach it. Be wise and do not involve children or yourselves in so many activities out of the home that you are so busy that the Spirit of the Lord cannot be recognized or felt in giving you the promised guidance for yourself and your family.

3. Create meaningful family bonds that give your children an identity stronger than what they can find with their peer group or at school or anyplace else. This can be done through family traditions for birthdays, for holidays, for dinnertime, and for Sundays. It can also be done through family policies and rules with natural and well-understood consequences. Have a simple family economy where children have specific chores or household duties and receive praise or other rewards commensurate to how well they do. Teach them the importance of avoiding debt and of earning, saving, and wisely spending money. Help them learn responsibility for their own temporal and spiritual self-reliance.

Remember that the expression of love and encouragement from an extended family member will often provide the right influence and help a child at a critical time."

Yesterday's Experience with the Sister Missionaries

First and foremost, I encourage you to think about your day yesterday and I encourage you to ask yourself the following questions. What were the achievements that you have achieved yesterday?

How was your day yesterday? Was it great? Was it productive? Was it emotional? Was it enjoyable?
My day was great, productive, and enjoyable. I would like to share with you some highlights about my day yesterday.

My ward Sister Missionaries, Sister Burgess, and Sister Tuiala were on trade-offs with another pair of Sister Missionaries who are Sister Kunz and Sister Taulagia, they are Sister Training Leaders serving in Goodna Ward and Samoan Branch from Ipswich Stake. Sister Tuiala and Sister Taulagia are both from Samoa.

From around 10:30am to around 2:35pm, I spent a great time with Sister Kunz and Sister Tuiala. There wasn't many set appointments. Instead of attending appointments, we did a lot of door-knocking and a lot of findings. We knocked on a door and a woman named Kylie answered the door.

Sister Kunz, Sister Tuiala, and I explained to her that we are from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Sister Kunz said, "we are here in the area today to go around the neighbourhood to ask if anyone wants a helping hand or needs to listen to an uplifting message we have."
Kylie expressed to us about some things such as when her parents passed away, she has hope that she will be able to see them again and other things. Sister Kunz, Sister Tuiala and I had the opportunity to talk briefly about The Plan of Salvation to Kylie. I was about to cry.

After we finished walking one side of a street of houses, we started walking the other side of the street. We walked to the man who was washing his car and his name is Jeff. Sister Kunz and Sister Tuiala introduced themselves to Jeff and Jeff noticed that they were wearing badges.

He noticed that I wasn't wearing a badge and he asked "and who are you? You aren't wearing a badge." I mentioned, "I am Megan and I am in training to become a Sister Missionary." Our conversation was with him was unbelievable. Sister Kunz and Sister Tuiala was mentioning that they would be happy to give service and help clean Jeff's car.

I quoted partly a scripture to Jeff, without using my scriptures and it said, "when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." Jeff was amazed and said, "See your training sister is ahead of you guys." It was an amazing feeling and I think Sister Kunz and Sister Tuiala was amazed when Jeff said that to me.

The comment made a highlight of my day and I felt satisfied. I felt like saying, "Almost all the hard work as being a ward missionary and staying focused on my mission preparations has paid off but I still have a lot of things to achieve and learn before I leave for my mission."

Being a ward missionary Being a ward missionary has helped me a lot to become a great Sister Missionary and helped me to partly know what it feels like to be a Sister Missionary already.

One Year Ago Today was a Emotional Day

For the past days, I have been noticing that time has been going too fast on me and it has been hard to believe it. I would like the time to slow down for the next upcoming days. I give you the permission to cry if this post makes you cry because I know this post will make me cry and I am not looking forward to crying.

One year ago today, I was away from my family's house for 5 days and I was at a church friend family's home in Mandurah, Western Australia. I was feeling very happy until I read a friend Jodie's Facebook status and that status has turned my happiness down. The status was mentioning that her Dad Bill has passed away earlier that morning.

I knew Bill because he was a church member in my family's ward. I was so grateful that I listened to his last testimony that he shared with the ward members before I left for Perth, Western Australia without knowing it would be his last one. My reaction was a lot of crying, feeling upset and feeling heartbroken.

I felt there was nothing I can do because I was so far away from home. I wasn't able to visit that Jodie's Mum Cheryl in person. All I could think of is to phone call her but she didn't answer, so I left a voice message, I wrote her a letter to cheer her up and I prayed for her to feel comfort through the difficult time.
Left to Right:Elder Samuel Owens and Bill
- March 2015
It took me a day to think about what the letter should say. I still remembered what the letter said. I have been told the letter will arrive in 3 days to 3 weeks from where I was staying at and I had a strong faith that the letter will arrive at Cheryl's house within 3 days.

I still remembered the subject title of the email to my friend who is relative to someone who passed away and he was still on his mission. The subject title was "Always to Stay Positive."

I can't believe it has been one whole year ago since he passed away. Many times, I made the effort to go to the cemetery where that Bill was buried at. All of my experiences of going there is to talk to Bill and I always cry so much, so much that my tissues were wet. Whenever I stopped crying for a few minutes, my tissues quickly dries up again and then I start crying again.

Please tell your loved ones that you love them so much and make sure that they do know that.

What Would the Saviour Have Me Do?

This post is short and sweet. This post is based on April 1978 General Conference talk called "What Would the Saviour Have Me Do?" by Derek A. Cuthbert.

Before sharing with you some highlights from reading the talk, I encourage you to think about the following three questions, "What Would the Saviour Have Me Do?" "What does it mean to you?" and "How can you apply the answers to the first question in your everyday life?"

I know there are no wrong and right answers to those three questions. I would like to share with you some highlights while I was reading the talk. Brother Cuthbert mentioned,

"What a great blessing comes to us when we hear and accept the gospel! I earnestly pray that everyone, all people, will listen to the missionaries that those who are members of the Church will listen to the missionaries as they teach their friends in their home, that all those who have not yet accepted the gospel will open their hearts to the gospel message.

The fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored in these last days. I know that to be true. It has brought us so much happiness in our lives. We have learned to pray meaningfully; we have learned to pray in our family; we have learned to pray as husband and wife; we have learned to pray in secret and to pour out our hearts to the Lord and receive guidance. How grateful we are for those eternal blessings!
How thankful I am for a loving Father in Heaven who sent his Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to lead and guide us back to him. I bear testimony that the Lord Jesus Christ does live. He did live in mortality and gave us the perfect example. He did show us the way to live, and we can always say (and I do many times, indeed, each day), “What would the Savior have me do? What would the Savior do?” He did ransom us and make the supreme sacrifice and infinite atonement which only the Son of God could make. I know that he lives and that he has restored his gospel in its fulness in these last days. He has restored his church. He has restored the saving ordinances.

He has restored the priesthood power once more to man to prepare for his glorious second coming. I know that he speaks today and reveals his will through a mighty prophet, even President Spencer W. Kimball, whose faith and works are great, even unto miracles and unto the opening of the doors of the nations. We pray for him, and we pray that the doors of the nations will be unlocked.

We pray for the success of the missionaries and are so grateful to be involved in this wonderful latter-day work."

We all Need to Press Forward

This post is based on a Youth Theme song that I love called, "Press Forward" by Noelle Bybee and also my understanding of Press Forward. I encourage you to do the following instructions in order.

1. Ask yourself the following questions. 2. Answer the questions. 3. Think about your answers.
4. If you have a journal, write down the questions with your answers in the journal.

What does "Press Forward" means to me? How do you apply "Press Forward" in my daily life?
What can I do better to "Press Forward" in my life?

If you haven't heard the song before, I encourage you to listen to the song in your own time. Below is a audio clip of the song and I hope you will like the song.
If you can't see the video above, here's the link. www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9h6eWueGIA
If you have listened to the song, do you have any favourite parts? If so, what were your favourite parts?
My definition of Press Forward is to move forward and not feel discouraged. I always strive to apply Press Forward each day and each night. One of the major things that I strive to apply Press Forward is whenever things go wrong and doesn't happen the way that I expected it to, I always try to look at the positive side of why it has happened and what did I learnt from the experience.

I think all of us need to press forward more into our everyday lives. For most situations, it can be difficult and hard to press forward. I thought about some things when we can press forward.

In this life, we all need to press forward with continuous trust and faith in Heavenly Father.
In this life, we all need to press forward from our unrighteous decisions and our mistakes.
In this life, we all need to press forward when things happen when it's least expected.
In this life, we all need to press forward when things are going wrong.

Put God First

First and foremost, I encourage you to answer the following two questions, "When do you put your trust in God" and "What comes to your mind when I say put God first to you?" in your own time.

I would like to share with you, my answers to the questions. For the first question's answers,
I always put God first whenever I am facing tribulations, challenges, hardships and trials.
I always put God first whenever I am in need of feeling peace and finding hope again.

I always put God first whenever I need someone to talk to,feel peace again, and finding hope again.
I always put God first whenever I am making new decisions and I am making new goals and choices.
I always put God first whenever I am looking to feel true happiness again and a new direction in life.
I always put God first whenever I make a mistake and seeking forgiveness from making that mistake.

I know putting God first can be hard at times. For the second question's answer, I always strive to put God first always, no matter what because he has done so much for me such as providing people in life to create life long friendships.

I encourage you to put God first. Put God first more in your life. God will help you each step of the way that leads back to Heaven if you allow him to. He wouldn't help you if you choose not to follow his path to Heaven. He understands your feelings, he understands your weaknesses, he understands whenever you are facing challenges and he understands so much more. Reach out to God today.

On This Day

On Facebook, I think it is amazing that it has setting to receive notifications each day for "On This Day." For those readers who doesn't have Facebook, it is a notification that you can click on and it will display a page of posts that someone has shared on Facebook on that date and it also displays friendship anniversaries (if that someone became friends with someone else on that date).

For an example - If you became friends with your sister on Facebook exact one year ago, it will show up on that page. The reason for this post is to share with you one major thing of what makes this day a special day for me.
One year ago today, I said my final goodbyes to my family. I loved them so much. I left Brisbane to go to Western Australia. While I was being on the plane, waiting for everyone else to board the plane, I was on a phone call to my girl best friend.

I was very excited and happy for her at the time because she just completed her interview with her stake president and she even told me that her mission papers got submitted. I know she was very excited for me to go to Western Australia. I wasn't able to show her in person about how excited and how happy I was for her.

I didn't want to end the phone call with her. When I have to end the call, she quickly said, "I love you and miss you, Megan." After the phone call, I was feeling sad and I was about to cry so much. When i eventually cried, thank goodness that people didn't think that I was a baby crying.
I stayed awake for the whole flight. It was a long flight. It was almost 6 hours on the plane. I never fell asleep on the plane before. I was so grateful to know that it has been one year ago since I left Brisbane to go to Perth, Western Australia.

I was very excited to meet new people, going to Perth Latter-Day Saint Temple and hoping that I will make my time in Western Australia memorable and worthwhile. I was hoping that I will as many photos as I can.

I was keen on text messaging my parents, my girl best friend, my sister Emma, and a few close friends with daily updates/evening updates about what did I achieved each day/each night, mentioning that I miss them/love them so much, how my day was and how my night was so that they know that I am doing well and still alive. I know there were some days and some evenings that I messaged late than usual. Oops.

Some days and some evenings, I kept forgetting about the time difference between Western Australia and Queensland because I was so focused and used to seeing Perth Time Zone and not realising that Brisbane Time Zone is 2 hours ahead.

I really like Western Australia. If you haven't been to Western Australia before, I encourage you to go to Western Australia sometime. I don't have much else to say.

You Know Enough

This post is based on an October 2008 General Conference 2008 talk called "You Know Enough" by Neil L. Anderson. I would like to share with you some highlights while reading the talk.

Elder Anderson mentioned,

"Together, we have begun our march toward eternal life. It is the journey of journeys. We go forward, taking upon us “the name of Christ, having a determination to serve him to the end.”

While there are many experiences like the one we are having today, full of spiritual power and confirmation, there are also days when we feel inadequate and unprepared, when doubt and confusion enter our spirits, when we have difficulty finding our spiritual footing. Part of our victory as disciples of Christ is what we do when these feelings come.
Our spiritual journey is the process of a lifetime. We do not know everything in the beginning or even along the way. Our conversion comes step-by-step, line upon line. We first build a foundation of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We treasure the principles and ordinances of repentance, baptism, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. We include a continuing commitment to prayer, a willingness to be obedient, and an ongoing witness of the Book of Mormon. (The Book of Mormon is powerful spiritual nourishment.)

We then remain steady and patient as we progress through mortality. At times, the Lord’s answer will be, “You don’t know everything, but you know enough” enough to keep the commandments and to do what is right. Remember Nephi’s words: “I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things.”

Brothers and sisters, we each have moments of spiritual power, moments of inspiration and revelation. We must sink them deep into the chambers of our souls. As we do, we prepare our spiritual home storage for moments of personal difficulty. Jesus said, “Settle this in your hearts, that ye will do the things which I shall teach, and command you.”

Challenges, difficulties, questions, doubts, these are part of our mortality. But we are not alone. As disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, we have enormous spiritual reservoirs of light and truth available to us. Fear and faith cannot coexist in our hearts at the same time. In our days of difficulty, we choose the road of faith. Jesus said, “Be not afraid, only believe.”

Through the years we take these important spiritual steps over and over again. We begin to see that “he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day.” Our questions and doubts are resolved or become less concerning to us. Our faith becomes simple and pure. We come to know what we already knew."

I encourage you to read the whole talk in your own time. Here's the link to the talk below.

Happy 20th Birthday to Emma C

This post is short and sweet. Today was my friend Emma C's Birthday and she was turning 20 years.
I still can remember when Emma was having a Birthday party for her 19th last year. You may ask me, "Why do you still remember it?" I remember it because it felt like it happened yesterday and I was at her house on the same date when she held her 19th.

I drove to her house/about 2 hours from where I was staying at before I went to a YSA Activity. I went to her house to catch up with her, got some photos together and I helped with preparing food for the party.
You may ask me, "When was the first time you met Emma and when was the last time you saw Emma ?" I first met Emma during End of Year YSA Convention in Perth 2014. The last time I saw Emma was within the last few nights before I left Perth in May last year.

My favourite memories with Emma was during End of Year YSA Convention in Perth and when I was able to catch up with her and getring some photos together while I was at her house in April last year. I don't know what Emma's favourite memories with me but I am sure it was the day when me and her was catching up and getting some photos together while I was at her house.

I have been great friends with Emma since sometime after End of Year YSA Convention in Perth 2014. and it was great meeting her family and some extended relatives for the first time while I was at her house.

Emma if you are reading this post, I would like to wish you a "Happy 20th Birthday and I hope you had a wonderful day. I hope your 20th will be a day to be remembered and realising that you are no longer in your teens."

Use Our Talents Wisely

This post is short and sweet. Heavenly Father gave each of us talents. We all can discover our talents by trying out new things and finding out what we enjoy doing the most. Depending on our talents, we can change those talents into life-long careers. For an example, I always loved taking photos and I still love taking photos.

When I was 15 years, I decided that I wanted to become a Photographer. I wanted to be a Photographer for my life-long career. I always enjoyed capturing the special moments, I know what it involves with, I know that I will be competing with other photographers that I need to make myself stand out and I know what it takes to get into Photography field.

To get into Photography field wasn't easy. While studying a course in Photography, it was hard because I didn't have the right equipment to build a portfolio and I didn't have many friends who live near me that I can take photos of. I used my digital camera and it wasn't so bad. Within after some months after finishing the course, I purchased the right equipment to that will help me to continue to pursue my Photography career.

I got my first DSLR camera with tripod, 3 different lenses, etc. Everything that I learnt during my course, was starting to make sense to me. I was able to apply some skills that I learnt into reality.
I 100% agree with the image above. If you can't see the image, it says,
"1. Discover our talents. 2. Spend time & effort. 3. Have faith.
4. Learn the skills. 5. Practice our talent. 6. Share our talents."

I would like to add that we need to use our talents wisely. What are some of your talents?
Do you use any of your talents wisely? Do you share your talent/s with others?
Did you know some talents can inspire others?

Always remember, we all were born to try.

Some Mission Preparation Ideas

I didn't know what to post today. I could only think about some mission preparatation ideas.

The mission isn't for everyone. If you have a desire to serve a mission, I strongly encourage you to pray with real intent and fast to know if the mission is for you or not. If you got a confirmation with an answer saying "Yes," I encourage you to go ahead and serve a mission.

If you received an answer saying "No," I encourage you to don't feel discouraged and look for other ways to serve the Lord. Giving up 18 months or 2 years or whatever how long of serving the Lord does take a lot of dedication and hard working. Missions are tough and missions aren't easy.

If you are preparing for your mission, I encourage you to go ahead and read a list that I have provided below. The list is a list of the mission preparations that I have done before I went on my mission. I know it will help me to become an effective missionary and I know it will help you too.

" - Fulfilling your Church calling/s; Fulfilling your church calling/s is a great way of service before your mission.

- Build a habit of daily scripture study; it will help you heaps because you will be reading your scriptures daily during your mission and it will help you build a stronger testimony of the scriptures.

- Become familiar with Preach My Gospel; it will help you heaps and it will help you to prepare and teach lessons.

- Attending some sessions at the Temple; Attending the Temple will help you to receive personal revelations for yourself, you will gain a stronger testimony of Temples, you will come to love the Temple more if you attend the Temple often, you will gain a stronger understanding of the importance of Temples.

I encourage you to take the opportunity to go to the Temple often before your mission because you won't be able to go to the Temple often during your mission.
Go out with your ward missionaries if you have missionaries serving in your ward; going out with them are the best way of experiencing what it is like to be a Missionary. Sometimes they will take you with them to go tracking or help them to teach lessons for the Investigators or doing rescue visits for the less actives/inactives.

Listening to some past General Conference talks; you will receive some inspiration answers to your new questions, you will be able to learn new things and you will gain a stronger testimony in General Conference.

Attending Institute; you will be able to learn new things while attending Institute often, it will help you to build a stronger testimony of Institute and if you accomplish the requirements for Institute, you will be able to receive a certificate of Achievement or Diploma for Institute.

Attending Mission Prep Class; it will help you heaps. Most classes provide a lesson and do role plays (the teacher gives you a situation and what the lesson's topic is on)."

There are other mission preparations that I could think of but I thought it would be best for you to figure out what those other mission preparations are."

I hope the list will you and I hope you can use it as a guide. If you aren't preparating for your mission, I encourage you to continue fulfilling your church calling/s, go to the Temple often if you are Temple worthy, build a habit of scripture study daily and listen to some past General Conference talks.

Always Remember Him

This post is based on most recent General Conference talk called "Always Remember Him" by Elder Gerrit W. Gong. I would like to share with you some highlights while I was reading the talk.

Elder Gong mentioned,

"Remembering and forgetting are part of everyday life. For example, once, after looking everywhere for her new mobile phone, my wife finally decided to call it from another phone. When she heard her phone ring, my wife thought, “Who could be calling me? I haven’t given that number to anyone!”

Remembering and forgetting are also part of our eternal journey. Time, agency, and memory help us learn, grow, and increase in faith. Here are six ways we can always remember Him.
First, we can always remember Him by having confidence in His covenants, promises, and assurances.
Second, we can always remember Him by gratefully acknowledging His hand throughout our lives.

We can remember those who give us a chance, and a second chance, with honesty, kindness, patience, and encouragement. And we can become someone others remember when they most needed help. Gratefully remembering the assistance of others and the Spirit’s guiding influence is a way we remember Him. It is a way we count our many blessings and see what God hath done.

Third, we can always remember Him by trusting when the Lord assures us. “He who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven, and I, the Lord, remember them no more.”

To be worthy does not mean to be perfect. Heavenly Father’s plan of happiness invites us to be humbly at peace on our life’s journey to someday become perfected in Christ, not constantly worried, frustrated, or unhappy in our imperfections today. Remember, He knows all the things we don’t want anyone else to know about us and loves us still.

Fourth, He invites us to remember that He is always welcoming us home.
When you are ready, please open your heart to the Book of Mormon, again, for the first time. Please pray with real intent, again, for the first time/

Fifth, we can always remember Him on the Sabbath through the sacrament.
Finally, sixth, our Savior invites us to always remember Him as He always remembers us.

The scriptures describe resurrection as “every limb and joint shall be restored to their proper and perfect frame,” and “even a hair of the head shall not be lost.” That being so, please consider how it is that our Savior’s perfect, resurrected body still bears the wounds in His side and the nail prints in His hands and feet."

Happy 21st Birthday Maddie

This post is short and sweet. Today is my friend Maddie's Birthday and she will be turning 21 years. I first saw Maddie during a youth dance in March 2011 but I didn't officially meet her until Priest and Laurels Ball in July 2012.

In February 2014 when I moved up to Young Single Adults, I was able to see Maddie more. Whenever I have my camera at Young Single Adults events, I get a high chance to get photos with Maddie and sometimes when I get photos with Maddie, our mutual friend Emmalyn be in the photos as well.
Maddie has always been a great friend to me and I always appreciate my friendship with Maddie. I always trust Maddie and look up to her a lot. I considered Maddie as a close friend since July 2013.
Maddie has always been a great listener and a great friend to talk to.

I know Maddie will never let me down. Thank you so much for our friendship. Maddie, if you are reading this post right now I would like to wish you a Happy 21st Birthday and I hope you will have a wonderful day. Always remember to celebrate your birthday with your family.

Look Inside Yourself and Recognise that Change Starts with You

This post is short and sweet. On Monday night, I watched a great animated movie called "Zootopia." Zootopia is currently a popular Disney movie that is viewing in cinemas in the United States. I was grateful for my decision to watch the movie. I really loved the movie. If you haven't heard the movie before, I encourage you to watch the movie trailer in your own time. Below is the video clip to the movie trailer.
If you weren't able to see the trailer, here's the link below.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWM0ct-OLsM

I have some favourite quotes from the movie and I would like to share with you on the quotes. I think that quote that I will be sharing with you this day relates to each of us.
The quote says, "Real life is messy. We all have limitations. We all make mistakes. Which means, hey, glass half full, we all have a lot in common. And the more we try to understand one another, the more exceptional each of us will be. But we have to try. So no matter what kind of person you are, I implore you: Try. Try to make the world a better place. Look inside yourself and recognize that change starts with you."

What do you think about the quote? Do you think it relates to each of us this day?

Being a Ward Missionary has helped me and taught me a lot

I love being a Ward Missionary for the past month and a day, It has helped me and taught me a lot. I learnt some major things that I didn't see before and I was able to apply a few of those things into my everyday life.

For the past month and a day;
I was able to recognise the promptings from Holy Ghost sooner, I was able to teach by the spirit, I acknowledged more importance of personal scripture study, my testimony based on "The Plan of Salvation" has been strengthened and I caught myself memorising Joesph Smith's Prayer (JS H, chapter 1: verse 16 to 17) randomly again.

I would like to share with you, three of those major things that I have learnt.

1/ There will be weeks that time goes slow and there will be weeks that time goes fast.
2/ If I have the right attitude for completing a task, I will be able to achieve it.
3/ Remember the purpose for going on a mission.
If you have a desire to go on a mission,  go on a mission. The process isn't really hard. Being patient for the mission call to arrive can be hard,

I encourage you to allow upto 6 months to complete the mission papers. I also encourage you to go to the interview with your bishop and your stake president. Be prepared to answer any of their questions. Then wait for your mission call to arrive, it can take upto 4 weeks to a very long time.

When you receive your mission call, tell your family and your friends. Invite your family and some friends to see your mission call opening. It will be a teary and great memory. Then do the final preparations for your mission such as going a few more interviews with your bishop and your stake president.

The night before you leave for your mission, you get set apart as a Full Time Missionary. Then the journey begins aas you are saying your final goodbyes to your friends and family.

Happy Belated 21st Birthday to Cody

Five days ago was my close friend Cody's 21st Birthday. You may ask me, "when was the first time when you met Cody?" I think I first met Cody at a Youth dance during EFY 2012. I don't remember exactly when I first met Cody.

Whenever it was, I am very grateful for being one of her friends since then. I truly value my friendship with her. I always appreciated our friendship. I always strive my best to prove to her that I do value our friendship by taking her to a few YSA dances, and some nights for Institute
I remembered Cody was one of the first close friends to find out about me starting my mission papers and I remembered when Cody thought I was born in the same year as her. I really love it whenever Cody called me sis/sister.

I really appreciate it and makes me feel that I have an older sister. I really love whenever Cody text me or call me if I can take her to Institute. Cody, if you are reading this post right now, I
do apologised for a late Birthday wish. I would like to wish you a "Happy belated 21st Birthday
and I hope you had a great day. I hope you are doing well and I miss you heaps."

Cody, please always remember you can text me and call me anytime if you need someone to talk to. I am aware that I am one of your best friends and I am grateful for being one of your best friends. I am really grateful to consider you as one of my close friends. Thank you for our true friendship.

The Best Is Yet to Be

This post is based on a January 2010 Ensign article called "The Best Is Yet to Be" by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland. I would like to share with you some highlights while I was reading the article.

"Faith Points to the Future
As a new year begins and we try to benefit from a proper view of what has gone before, I plead with you not to dwell on days now gone nor to yearn vainly for yesterdays, however good those yesterdays may have been. The past is to be learned from but not lived in.

We look back to claim the embers from glowing experiences but not the ashes. And when we have learned what we need to learn and have brought with us the best that we have experienced, then we look ahead and remember that faith is always pointed toward the future. Faith always has to do with blessings and truths and events that will yet be efficacious in our lives.

So a more theological way to talk about Lot’s wife is to say that she did not have faith. She doubted the Lord’s ability to give her something better than she already had. Apparently, she thought that nothing that lay ahead could possibly be as good as what she was leaving behind.
Forgive and Forget
There is something in many of us that particularly fails to forgive and forget earlier mistakes in life either our mistakes or the mistakes of others. It is not good. It stands in terrible opposition to the grandeur and majesty of the Atonement of Christ.

When something is over and done with, when it has been repented of as fully as it can be repented of, when life has moved on as it should and a lot of other wonderfully good things have happened since then, it is not right to go back and open some ancient wound that the Son of God Himself died to heal.

Let people repent. Let people grow. Believe that people can change and improve. Is that faith? Yes! Is that hope? Yes! Is that charity? Yes! Above all, it is charity, the pure love of Christ. If something is buried in the past, leave it buried. Don’t keep going back with your little sand pail and beach shovel to dig it up, wave it around, and then throw it at someone, saying, “Hey! Do you remember this?” Splat!

And soon enough everyone comes out of that exchange dirty and muddy and unhappy and hurt, when what our Father in Heaven pleads for is cleanliness and kindness and happiness and healing.

Such dwelling on past lives, including past mistakes, is just not right! It is not the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Best Is Yet to Be
This is an important matter to consider at the start of a new year and every day ought to be the start of a new year and a new life. Such is the wonder of faith, repentance, and the miracle of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

To all such of every generation, I call out, “Remember Lot’s wife.” Faith is for the future. Faith builds on the past but never longs to stay there. Faith trusts that God has great things in store for each of us and that Christ truly is the “high priest of good things to come” (Hebrews 9:11).

Keep your eyes on your dreams, however distant and far away. Live to see the miracles of repentance and forgiveness, of trust and divine love that will transform your life today, tomorrow, and forever.

Learning from This Article
What lessons from the past can guide you in the future?
What blessings do you want to exercise faith to receive?

Faith builds on the past but never longs to stay there. Faith trusts that God has great things in store for each of us."

I encourage you to answer the last two questions and encourage you to read the whole article in your own time. Here's the link below,

Beautiful Mornings

This post is based on April 2013 General Conference talk called "Beautiful Mornings" by Elder Bruce D. Porter. I would like to share with you some highlights while I was reading the talk. Elder Porter mentioned,

"Tribulation and difficult times may lie ahead, yet we too have cause for good cheer and rejoicing, for we live in the last dispensation, when God has restored His Church and kingdom to the earth in preparation for the return of His Son. President Boyd K. Packer once spoke of his grandchildren and the increasingly troubled world in which they live.

He said: “They will see many events transpire in the course of their lifetime. Some of these shall tax their courage and extend their faith. But if they seek prayerfully for help and guidance, they shall be given power over adverse things.”

Brothers and sisters, we need not fear the future, nor falter in hope and good cheer, because God is with us. To His Saints in our day, the Savior has said, “Be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you” (D&C 68:6).
Every one of us, and our families, can be armed with the power of God as a defense if we will but remain true to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and let the Spirit be our guide. Trials may come, and we may not understand everything that happens to us or around us. But
if we humbly, quietly trust in the Lord, He will give us strength and guidance in every challenge
we face. When our only desire is to please Him, we will be blessed with a deep inner peace.

I think also of two other beautiful mornings in the history of the world. In the spring of 1820, on the morning of a beautiful, clear day in Palmyra, New York, a young man named Joseph Smith entered a grove of trees and knelt in prayer. The answer to that prayer, the appearance of the Father and the Son, ushered in the dispensation of the fulness of times and the Restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth.

And yet another beautiful morning dawned nearly 2,000 years ago just outside the city wall of Jerusalem. The sun no doubt shone with exceptional radiance that Easter morning. A small company of women had come to visit a garden tomb, hoping to anoint the body of their crucified Lord. Two angels met them and declared: “Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen” (Luke 24:5–6)."

What I Have Done for Someone Today?

This post is based on October 2009 General Conference talk called "What I Have Done for Someone Today?" by Thomas S. Monson. I encourage you to think about the following 2 questions.
"What have you done for someone today?" and "How does it make you feel?"

I would like to share with you some of the highlights while I was reading the talk this evening. Brother Monson mentioned,

"The Apostle Paul admonished, “By love serve one another.” Recall with me the familiar words of King Benjamin in the Book of Mormon: “When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.”

President David O. McKay's statement “Man’s greatest happiness comes from losing himself for the good of others.” At baptism we covenanted to “bear one another’s burdens, that they may be
light.” How many times has your heart been touched as you have witnessed the need of another?
How often have you intended to be the one to help? And yet how often has day to day living interfered and you’ve left it for others to help, feeling that “oh, surely someone will take care of that need.”

We become so caught up in the busyness of our lives. My brothers and sisters, we are surrounded by those in need of our attention, our encouragement, our support, our comfort, our kindness be they family members, friends, acquaintances, or strangers. We are the Lord’s hands here upon the earth, with the mandate to serve and to lift His children. He is dependent upon each of us.
You may lament: I can barely make it through each day, doing all that I need to do.
How can I provide service for others? What can I possibly do?

Elder Richard L. Evans said “It is difficult for those who are young to understand the loneliness that comes when life changes from a time of preparation and performance to a time of putting things away. To be so long the center of a home, so much sought after, and then, almost suddenly to be on the sidelines watching the procession pass by this is living into loneliness.

We have to live a long time to learn how empty a room can be that is filled only with furniture. It takes someone beyond mere hired service, beyond institutional care or professional duty, to thaw out the memories of the past and keep them warmly living in the present. We cannot bring them back the morning hours of youth. But we can help them live in the warm glow of a sunset made more beautiful by our thoughtfulness and unfeigned love.”

How Can I Prepare Myself for General Conference this weekend?

During this weekend; in Salt Lake City Utah, General Conference will be viewing and broadcasting LIVE to the Church members and non-members to watch. I thought about a great question and the answer based on General Conference lately.

I won't be watching General Conference LIVE broadcast this weekend because I don't feel like waking up at ridiculous hour in the morning to watch it. So I will be watching it next weekend.
My question still applies to the church members and non-members who will be viewing General Conference LIVE this weekend.

The question was, "How Can I Prepare Myself for General Conference this weekend?"

Today, I would like to share with you about some ways of what you can do to prepare yourself
for General Conference this weekend.
My answer was, "Before General Conference,
  • I encourage you to read some past talks from the previous General Conference sessions.
  • Make a list of some questions and some concerns that you have in a note book that you will be taking for General Conference.
  • Ponder and pray about your list, asking to receive guidance during General Conference.
During General Conference,
  • You can attend, watch, or listen to all the sessions of conference. Focus just on General Conference rather than trying to do other activities at the same time.
  • Listen carefully and intently. Be especially ready to receive answers to your questions whether your answers come from talks, prayers, songs, or promptings from the Spirit.
  • If your questions got answered and/or your concerns got resolved, write down what the Spirit has prompted you to write,
After General Conference,
  • I would encourage you to read some of the talks in your own time and try to apply a few of those talks into your everyday life.
  • Share thanks to Heavenly Father."
Stay Tuned until next time.
